The Rules

Tournament Rules

  • A minimum of 5 games against 3 different opponents are required for your score to be valid
  • Your position is defined by your win/loss ratio. If your ratio matches another person, the person with the highest score will be first
  • If a player has to abandon a game for non work related reasons, this counts as a loss against the abandoner
  • Leaving a tournament mid-season will result in immediate deletion from the table
  • (Honesty policy) You should play every active player in a calendar season
  • Any non league games MUST be agreed before the break

Pool Rules

  • If you pot a colour from the break then that is your colour for the rest of the game
  • If the first pot is both colours from the break or otherwise you may nominate your colour
  • After a foul, the cue ball must be placed inside the ‘D’ and the white ball must pass the line
  • After placing the ball in the ‘D’ you may not touch the cue ball again
  • When your opponent fouls, you have a shot ‘in hand’. However, if you pot on your first shot you do not carry the shot ‘in hand’
  • Once per game, if your opponent has fouled, by potting the white, you may call a free ball. When a ‘free ball’ has been called, you may use your first shot to hit any ball on the field, and even pot an opponent’s ball. However you still foul if you pot the white and lose the game if you pot the black

A player fouls when:

  • They pot the white
  • They pot the wrong colour
  • They play an intentional ‘jump ball’
  • They accidentally strike their opponent’s ball or the black ball first instead of their own
  • Any ball falls on the floor (these balls are considered potted)
  • They touch a ball with their hand or body (or a piece of clothing • or jewellery)
  • A shot is taken when balls are still moving
  • The cue ball is struck with the cue more than once in any given shot, or if the cue hits any other ball They ‘push’ the ball with their cue instead of striking it
  • The shot is played with both feet off the ground
  • No ball is potted or hits a cushion (to prevent ‘tucking up’ and snookering)

A player will automatically lose the match if:

  • They accidentally pot the black ball before they’ve potted all of their colour balls
  • They pot the cue ball and black ball in the same shot
  • They hit the black ball off the table
  • They fail to nominate a pocket before potting the black, or pot the black in a different pocket to the nominated one
  • They foul when both players are on the black
  • They intentionally miss their colour ball
  • They return their cue to the rack before the completion of a game
